Bit of an update and a bit of closure on this project - I got it finished, complete with full suite of gears (instead of the singlespeed as previously intended) as a xmas pressie for my dad. He had mentioned for a while about getting a bike to get out a cycle a bit more. I looked at new bikes and for the money I had and was really uninspired with what was available. I also looked at second hand bikes but none that I could find at the time were in good enough condition to give as a present. So..... I decided to spend more on this bike finishing it off for him.
It was great going out for a Boxing Day bike ride with him - and nice to be able to turn the tables and give him a bike for xmas
