Identifying a Battaglin

Retro Newbie
Hi All,
Have just bought a Battaglin frameset off ebay, and was hoping to identify it. It has been restored/ repainted since new, and has chrome forks and stays. the decals which are repros have the 1987 world champion logo on.
Lots of Pantographs in usual places.
I guess its SL but anyway to confirm?
It has these numbers on the BB 278 and 52 (frame size- although it seems a little bigger?)
I can provide photos if someone can advise what they'd need to see?

Then I need to work out the best equipment to go on it...
Thanks

Jez

As the Battaglin importer in the 80's, all the frames were painted/chromed to the same standard and with the same engraving.. The only way to tell the difference as to the frame tubing being used is the seat post size, and this applies to most of the Italian frames of the time as they all used Columbus tubing..
Columbus SL/SLX 27.2mm
Columbus Alle 26.8mm
I think they made a frame with 3 main tubes SL too.
I think the 'Team' frames had Cinelli lugs and BB.
re frame sizes they are measured centre to centre so the 'english' size will be bigger by approx 3/4 inch
ie 56cm frame is 22 3/4 in english size

hope this helps

That does help thanks. Is there anyway of dating it?
I was hoping to do the Eroica on it (which means pre 86)....

I'm guessing the kit supplied on them varied dramatically, or were there standard equipment levels?
