After some random internet searching, I came across retrobike and instantly fell in love with the idea of building the high-zoot rig that I could never afford in junior high/high school.

Caramba Double Barrels. Snapped like an old pretzel on the first ride because I didn't tighten the spider bolt. Live and learn...


V2.1 build. Busted Caramabas were replaced with some 5-arm LX bits. In compact drive too... Barf. The Precision Billet derailleur hadn't showed up.

Current state of affairs:


Current issues:
-The 112 mm spindle is spaced for a 68mm shell width. The cranks just barely tighten up and there is no chain line adjustment. Not an ideal situation.
-The Precision Billet derailleur is partly anodized red. I will be taking it apart to strip it in a later post.
-Maxxis Hookworms are HEAVY, weighing 1.2 kilos each. Ritchey Tom Slicks are on order. Should shave off a pound and a half.

I need a Rollamajig.

Updates:
- Bottom bracket bearings were the original units and felt pretty crunchy after a couple rides. $16 dollars later and I pressed in some new ceramic hybrids into the cups.
- New 122mm ti spindle is in.
- Cook Bros RSR cranks have been sourced. Of course they are standard 110/74mm BCD, which means that I won't be able to use me ActionTec ringleader.
