I used some pliers and hammer to get the ring of from the end of the axle in the lower pic. Dunno what it was but I'll have to check the bearing rings when I get home. Then I used some pushing and hammering to get the axle out and voilá it came off:
Not a qenuine Mavic axle. I don't understand why someone put it there in the first place but now it's off.
