Colnago Info

I noticed on the Bulgier catalogs that Colnago masters were supplied with C record, Croce D'Aune or Shimano sante group sets.

I have this Master with what appears to be an original 'white' 105SC group, i wonder if that was a factory alternative to Sante which was only available for a short period?

I was going to replace with a period campy group, but the 105 looks quite well matched in this instance...( may have to eat my words here! )

The catalogs that you see on Bulgier refer almost exclusively to the US market. Other markets sold bikes with totally different builds, so almost anything is possible. Furthermore, while Colnago has always been more industrial in their production than other Italian boutique brands, they have also always sold bare frames, so you are free to install whatever you want and nobody could ever say that it is not original.

Ah many thanks for that, I didn't realise.
I also wondered if the low profile front rim and high profile rear was a trend of the time as I have a Pinarello from the same period with almost identical front and rear rims, could be just a coincidence but the Colnago wheels are built with the same hubs and aero bladed straight laced spokes; similarly the Pinarello has a Chorus group set with correct hubs and matching spokes/lacing patterns so wheels are not an 'odd pair' by any means.
Could be a rare coincidence but worth a mention...Pinarello pics for reference.
