Need help working out what length steerer I need

As title ...

I'm restoring an old Marin Pine Mountain, I dont have much experience with threaded headsets/forks, the steerer tube on the frame is exactly 150mm.

I have a HP-M736 XT threaded headset and according to the manual the overall stack height is H + 33.5mm (H being headtube length)

So Am I right in saying that I NEED a fork with a 183.5mm steerer? does it have to be exact or would 180mm do? Either way leaves me a bit stuck as any old suspension forks I have seen for sale always seem to have much shorter steerers :(

Thanks in Advance!

Yes, That is exactly right!

Try looking for a lower stack height head set (tange levin or old shimano cartrige (stx rc)) or got to Ahead.

Sorry but that's all I can advise.

I seem to remember somewhere that you could get a quill converter to run an aheadset stem and head set with a threaded fork but this may have been 1" only as I think it was roadie related.
