Daewoo Genius re-discovery

These were sold around 1997/98 and I think the only difference between models was the components fitted. I've got a quick review in MBR magazine where they said it was a decent, lightweight frame worthy of some upgrades. I'd love to see one polished and tricked up ;)

Genius 1000 - Tourney/Altus - £210
Genius 2000 - Tourney/Altus - £230
Genius 3000 - Altus - £260
Genius 4000 - AceraX - £300
Genius 5000 - Alivio - £370

What he said - well worthy of stripping, polishing and STX-RC or LX or something with some ahead forks.

I/we sold hundreds of these at a shop I worked in back in 97/98 era. Those alloy ones were an alright ride, but the spec was pretty dreadful & the hubs in the wheels were very fragile.

Good to see one again.

It's had all sorts built in though not by me, I've been riding it for four years. The hubs say Shimano HB-M510 and FH-MC38A, gears Shimano Deore, rims Mavic X221, there's an FSA Orbit XLII headset and the fork is a Rockstar Cromo, none of that was part of the original. It's quite light without the camping panniers.
