was changing the seals on my bomber z4's (2001 30mm stantions)and by accident i found that the hoselock thingy is the right size to install them with out damage!!sweet as!!
If you have a 1/2 inch socket set, I would expect one of the larger sockets would do the job too, being metal they should not break whereas the plastic hozelock thing might.
Sockets can also be used to press bearings in and out.
Not cheap 25mm 600AX seatpost, but if needs must...
