I had one of these also. First road bike so I had nothing to compare it with. It was however nowhere near as bad as my aluminium Gt Edge.
 
I've still got one as my hack bike - I've loaded it up with mudguards, lights, the whole nine yards - I've therefore no idea how it handles in normal situations - care to elaborate on the comment?

Imagine it on the Edinburgh cobbles then! Still, most road bikes I've ridden feel harsh over that sort of surface, so I suppose I've got used to it. Besides, its probably got a few cracks under the covering of road filth, which probably make it a little more compliant :)
 
He he yeah. My one actually developed a crack just under the seat post binder which was about 1cm long.
