My one, 952 series (so dedicated for 9s):

As I know it was DH version - Shimano did one or two Years (2000, not sure about 2001) single-crank XTR crankset, carbon V-booster, and rear mechs (they were using Dura Ace cages with riveted protector near lower jockey)
Cranks and booster You could see in catalogues, mech were not published there...

man, shimano already in '98 was a mention in the catalog of a group of DH, also in 1999 there were photos and information on this topic. nowhere you can not find anything about the rear changer with shortest cage SS.
there are m950 (with Ti bolt) and m952 (with silver bolt) in DH version
