I managed to mangle that spindley retainer/spring thingummijig when sanding my pads.

Still loads of life left in pads, anyone has an old spring I could use? trades/postage etc?
 
I take you mean the metal bit which looks like a spider ? :LOL:

if yes , I think I have a spare or two . will check tomorrow .
