Victor Vincente of America is the nom de guerre of Michael Hiltner, a member of several Olympic cycling teams in the '60s. Victor set the coast-to-coast cycling record in the '60s by dint of being the first person to try it. After arriving at the Atlantic Ocean, he turned around and set the round-trip record.

Victor was the first off-road race promoter in Southern California, 400 miles away from Marin County, and manufactured his own line of bikes.

This is the first issue of his newsletter, which remained in publication for at least ten more years. As far as I know, he is still publishing it. Although this is undated, it was published in the summer of 1980.

What makes this very interesting is the race results for the 1980 Central Coast Clunker Classic.

The only woman in the race, Denise Caramagno, was also my girlfriend at the time and my associate in publishing the Fat Tire Flyer.
