Just to let you all know, I have found a bit of a gem of a Mac repair centre.
The place is like a retrobiker's garage, full of piles of neatly stacked G4's and G3's and G5's dotted about in various states of repair. laptops and ram cards and monitors all over the place. Kind of incredible.
The guy running it is a somewhat unlikely looking mac repair man, but I have to say, he knows his stuff. Properly. And he sorted mine and tested and guaranteed it for a fraction of the cost of the (few) repair centres out there.
Even if you've got an old G3 clamshell laptop and think there's no hope, get in touch. I reckon he'd have anything going again.
And a really nice guy. Felt bad for him as he's not charging enough clearly, but was genuinely friendly and appeared decent and honest.
What more could you wish of a repair centre?
Bit eccentric, but worth a call. Better than forking out for a new machine when you needn't as I nealry did.
