I caught the Wright Stuff on this topic today, and have to say I am surprised people are falling for this publicity drive aimed at coining in on Savile's deeds.
Hopefully no one here is naive enough to believe a play is 'needed' to examine this subject.
On top of that the figure is being 'played' by Alistair McGowan.
Now here is a talentless hack of a comic/impressionist attempting to redraw his outline with a sharper piece of chalk.
That is what galls me about this whole notion, rather than whether a playwright might want to examine the same material that has been selling newspapers for the last few years.
Why not? Not needed, but then who says a play has to be necessary?
I just can't see McGowan selling us anything other than a miserably inadequate performance.
Now if they could have engaged Dominic West or Daniel Day-Lewis..
