Boiled up a ham bone the other night and threw some broth mix in the stock yesterday. Smelling great so far, just added some scraps of bacon and veg remnants and a bouquet garni with heavy emphasis on cloves - this lot is destined for flasks in the hill tomorrow and it is baltic out there!

had a gammon joint the other day, looked up a recipe for it and found nigellas method of cooking in coke (cola) but I didn't have any so use cider instead, finished it of with a honey and mustard glaze. was yummy
 
Crikey she did one in coke? That is great fodder for a few satirical pokes! I actually have a Nigella book I was gifted years ago. The pages all seem to be stuck together though. Cider is a natural companion for pig. You will never see a happier pig than those roaming in an orchard, gobbling up rotting apples. I hear the thing for dinner parties now is to serve everything in large spoons.
