1995 Kona Kilauea

Eh up,
Here's a few picks of my almost but not quite finished Kilauea. The 18" frame was picked up from ebay already sprayed red and stickered. Most of the bits come from the same year/era cinder cone. A mix of XT, LX, Sugino, ;).

I'm in a quandary - I'd want to use this as my only bike until funds permit something special later next year. I'd like to raise the front bars a bit and also get a front suspension fork. 20 years ago I managed the riding position no problem, but not now - it's way too uncomfortable.

Can anybody suggest some parts (both retro and newish - it doesn't have to stay in period). I think the frame was designed to take 63mm travel - possibly 80mm. How much can I get away with?

It's also 1 1/8 " threaded currently - shall I go threadless?

Like I say, it's to turn this bike into my main ride so needs to be a bit more comfortable. Thanks for looking!

kona carried on using this frame geometry with 80mm forks, end even a few with 100mm. You might need a shorter stem for that though
