in time for Canada's Day celebration tomorrow, i just got back from a 4 hour round trip to pick this up from a shiate shack in literally the M-F-N! this is "as is" as i was presented with it locked with a link chain and padlock in a junk yard style garage shed.

needs some TLC and parts swapped but all in all it's in fairly good shape, and with the majority of it's original components i think. pump up the tyres with air and adjusted the saddle height and it rode quite nice. the mag21 are holding air and seem to be functioning as should even!

only bummer was the cracked non-drive side RF arm. :( was one of the highlights i saw on it, but i managed to get $100 knocked off the asking price. and luckily i have a replacement, albeit not as nice looking cosmetically.

need to good clean and strip down, particularily all three of the bike pump mounts on the darn thing.  i think i have most if not all of the replacement parts i want already in possession… RF IB cranks, RF ti EX stem, gold ano RF bar, Syncros ti seatpost, Flite kevlar saddle, and a pair of Shimano XT m737 SPD pedals.

Re:

good score!!!!
made the long drive worth it I bet.
too bad about the crank arm though.
looking forward to seeing this all shiney and complete.
have a good holiday.

Re:

The frames quite tidy, are you going to sketch up the decals. Hint hint.

Hows the front rim as being 28 hole is a bugger to replace.

Once I have my pace done I'll be back onto my altitude93

Re:

That's a lovely looking frame Frank. Look forward to seeing you work your magic :D

Wow, very nice Frank! Are we going into a 'who has most Altitudes' contest? I give up even before we start :)

Fantastic find, I reckon it's a great feeling having that bike in the back of your car while driving home. I think this is one of the greater Altitude colour schemes around.

Nice! The gold accents on the bike look great, and the Raceface bar will go nicely with it.
I've always liked the 93 and 94 altitudes. They had unique colour schemes and great parts kits on them!
Now if only one of these will turn up out west. :?

thanks guys for all the comments! ;)

no real plans right now regarding decals. this one i was thinking wasn't needing too much restoring. i'll let you know though.

didn't do a hole count on the front. will have to check on that, rims look to have fair amount of use, but still going strong so should give me still many good years.

no contest here, just collecting two years you don't have at the moment.

it would have been even nicer if the crank wasn't cracked, and it had the full syncros stem/bar/seatpost treatment. but i can't complain much! ;)

okay, first round of my typical many changes! gave it a decent cleaning, and removing all the "extra" stuff i didn't want/need on the bike. original seatpost and stem plans didn't work out. forgot this was a 27.2, and the ti post i have is a 27.0. good thing i had a spare black 27.2. ;) the RF ti stem was more work to convert the steerer setup than i wanted to tackle at the moment, plus it was zero rise which i wasn't sure would be comfortable. so instead i went with a grey Syncros cattlehead. would have preferred black perhaps, but i didn't have one and this doesn't look too bad.

changed out a few of the rusty/worn cables, along with new liner outers for the top tube runs. some of the xtr outers had to be replaced as they were cracked/broken. luckily i was able to swap a few around and had enough loose used spare kicking about to make up the rest, otherwise i'd have to pull apart and replace with another colour.

decided to just throw on the non-drive crank, and leave the drive side at the moment. the replacement crank has 48t outer and i would have to re-align the front mech, as the current one is 46t and i didn't really want to as it would leave and make new marks. :?

switched the front tyre around so the rim decals matched, and while i was at it, also changed both inner tubes since i found the front had 6 patches in it.
