Pretty in Pink - 1991 Kona Hahanna.

I've removed the bottom bracket and grease nipple from the Hahanna as the axle would be too long for the cranks I'll be fitting, and I think the grease nipple would get in the way when fitting a cartridge bottom bracket, so I need to find a suitable bolt to refit the plastic cable guide to the BB shell.

Yes the nipple will breach the cartridge BB as I checked this when building up my 91 lava dome.
I’d keep the nipple intact as recon they’ll be hard to get hold of in time and just use a short suitable bolt for cable guide.
I’m sure the thread is M6 (size bigger than bottle bags bolt).

Hmm... You are correct, the nipple won't screw in all the way due to the cartridge bottom bracket, will have to have a proper look for an alternative tomorrow. I think the grease nipples will be a pretty standard size though, I'll keep it anyway.
Out in the sunshine this afternoon, I've actually re-used the 200GS rear mech and shifter as they cleaned up nicely, and also the Bontrager "Trail Connection" tyres have gone back on.
Finally found a use for the pink Charge Bucket saddle I've had kicking around for ages! and pink Burgtec grips from a recent modern bike purchase, it really is a "bitsa" build!
Still cabling, chain, and fettling to do yet...

Well the Hahanna has been finished for several weeks now, but remained unridden. Cables and chain were added, and tyres changed for some Schwalbe Black Jack in 1.9 width from another donor bike as the Bontrager 2.1's left very little clearance at the chainstays.
We went for a few days on North Uist in the Outer Hebrides last week, I took my road bike and the Hahanna as well , Mrs jimo746 didn't feel like bike riding :roll: no surprise there so I raised the seat and took the pink Hahanna for a ride around some of the beaches on the island.
It rode just fine, brakes work, suspension works, and the 1x7 gearing was fine for the flat beaches and local lanes.
To be honest, I might give it a ride now and then as it was quite good fun to ride and the cost to build it has been minimal. Win Win!
