Return to Doncatraz - Steetly Quarry Loop - Doncaster

:: Date: Sunday 27th April 2014

:: Time: 09:30am for a 10:00am start.

:: Difficulty: 2/5

:: Distance: 15 - 20 miles approximately

:: Terrain: Single Track, Trans Pennine Trail with wooded and open quarry downhill sections.

:: Directions to start location: Start location will be the free, on road car parking to the rear of J&S Accessories Ltd (Motorbike Shop) Marsh Gate, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, DN5 8AF. The shop is opposite the Doncaster branch of Halfords on the west side of the 'North Bridge'.

Turn right when you see the store front (See Image) then left at the mini roundabout, parking is on the right hand side of the road.

:: Food: Bring your own snacks and water, if you need anything you will be no more than 15 minutes ride away from a shop or cafe.

Travelling predominantly via the Trans Pennine Trail this is a nice steady ride which will not be overly taxing for the average rider. The last section will see us pass through some great woodland and an old disused quarry, both of which are used by local Mountain Bike enthusiasts and Motor Cross riders. Be prepared for some technical downhill sections in the last quarter of the ride folks. Remember however, if you don't want to do the downhill sections you don't have to, safety first, remember.

:: NO HELMET, NO RIDE (Gloves recommended).

Re:

Hope to be there but have a feeling we have something on in the afternoon so I might have to stick with the North Cliffe/Sancton route.

Bugger, is that when youre planning to do that route Chris, hmmm, this then throws into doubt my confirmation of Trebz route :(

Re:

Yeah sorry do you remember us arranging it in the pub, I have been so busy I havent had chance to sort it online.

Re: Return to Doncatraz - Steetly Quarry Loop - 13/04/14

Aye it was me that suggested that route as its a brilliant one, i just didnt know it was next week lol!

Re: Return to Doncatraz - Steetly Quarry Loop - 13/04/14

I mentioned the Doncaster ride to Chris and as he'd not really broadcast the Sancton ride he offered me the Sunday for this.

Obviously if you want to go on the Sancton ride you are free to do so hehe.

James Lee wanted me to help him get to the Steetly quarry area so I offered to put a ride on at short notice, the post went up within a few minutes then I found out about Chris's proposed ride. He offered me that day as only Spud and Chris knew about the Sancton ride hehehe

All comers welcome as usual.

:)

Re:

Sorry Trebz I won't be able to make this one . I've allreddy made plans for the afternoon as I thought we was riding local .

Re:

Feel real bad now :oops:

As I thought I have to be home for family duties in the afternoon so I will be leading the Sancton loop.

Simple solution is for anyone pushed for time to come with me and those wanting something a little more epic/technical to go with Trebz.
