Help with repairing headset

rearwheel

Retro Guru
Hi, after this recent purchase: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=387422 I needed to overhaul the headset but, unfortunately, my efforts weren't successful as the handlebars are not moving as freely as they should. Also, I've never used a carbon steerer tube before, which presumably one has to be extra careful with because of the weaker material. Here are pics which hopefully give a clue as to what I'm doing wrong.

The top part in picture 3 seems to be upside down

Actually, I think I'd figured that out whilst reinstalling as that's a plastic cap obviously to keep water out. I've also added some extra pics, which hopefully show some more information. Cheers.

OK, I seemed to have managed to get it working how it should. I even took it out for a spin. Just need a rear brake now. Cheers for support - it helps!

It looks like you have put the wedge that goes in the top of teh top bearing surface, on upside down. Picture 3 from the top. What that bit dose is ensure a very tight fit for the steerer tub to the top bearing surface.
