decided to jump head first and rebuild a wheel
its about time i learned!
so i took apart my wheel which is
mavic x317 disc (older style, not sure how old)
and hb m755 (front)

but i dont know what length spokes i need! :(
i got so far using sheldon brown but then realised something was wrong
so i checked the old spokes and theyre all the same size (?)

i got to replace them some 258's and 260's i think (the nipples are shorter than the original ones see)

i cant seem to work the online spoke calculators
just need to know the length(s) i need
and which side takes which length if its 2 different sizes

as a side, when i built it the lead spokes went over one and then under the next
which is 2 cross?
which is wrong?

argh!

edit:
spocalc says this??? (using just shimano xt disc (cant find m755) and mavic x317)

N, total number of spokes 32 cross left length right length

This is the hub you're using isn't it?

With an X317 rim and 3 cross spoke pattern combination I get 260.3mm and 261.5mm.

In practice you'll be fine with 260mm spokes on both sides.

The rim by the way is from 1998 or thereabouts. The M755 hub dates from 2000/2001.

And for a three cross lacing make sure you go over - over - under with your outer spokes.

oh i see! (different spoke lengths)

yeah thats the hub
how do you know when rim is from?

will see how i get on tonight :D

thanks greatly for the help
