Those Hopes are one of my favourite cycling components of all time. I've owned quite a few - unfortunately, I've still got a few kicking around that are completely riddled in cracks. Like all those Alfas I've owned, they are beautiful to look at, fantastic to use, but will break down without hesitation no matter how much you love them...
Be pragmatic: how much mileage do you expect to put on them? If these are riders I'd give serious thought to getting them rebuilt. They don't like radial, at all.
