Must have...

1 1/8" head tube
Effective top tube of about 22" (C-C)
68mm BB shell
Clearance to run a 47mm chainline (Goldtec hub) with a 41T ring
Ideally will have:

27.2mm seatpost size

Marin, Kona, Saracen, Orange, Fat Chance, Breezer, Fisher are all possible brands.

If you have a fork for it, it must be A-head, disc compatible and not suspension -so I'm probably just looking at a frame!

Anyone else? I don't want forks and it must be 17"-18" with a top tube of 22" or thereabouts.

As far as the chainring clearance goes, the easiest way is to measure the width across the chainstays with calipers - at a point 3.5" behind the BB spindle (which is where the edge of a 41T ring is) the width across the stays must be no more than 90mm. Some frames have got enough clearance, like my Cannondale M1000, some haven't.

I got a Saracen frame from fleaBay which seemed to fit the bill, but when it turned up one of the chainstays looked as if it had been under a bus
