Spooky - RETRO-MODDED

For many years I have loved riding the Spooky Bandwagon, but the retro set up with Marz Z1, XTR v-brakes, Mavic D521 rims and chain device was making it a bit of a cumbersome mud magnet on longer rides. So...

I abandoned the search for the elusive Spooky disc mount/Hope calliper and bought an A2Z universal mount, stuck some coil Rock Shox Sektors (run at 100mm) on there, upgraded the drive chain to 10 speed with a clutch mech and Works narrow-wide chainring, and fitted some tubeless Hope Hoops. I've also reamed out the seat tube to take a 27.2mm dropper post. Probably blown the warranty on the frame (hahahahaha).

The result favourable. Rode the Beast at Coed y Brenin this afternoon and it flies. Albeit standing up for a couple of hours wasn't great, but also not unbearable. Going to rivnut a bottle mount onto it tomorrow. This bike has a whole new future ahead of it... yee woo hah hoo.

Re:

Thank you for the kind comments.

Now totally ruined... but a little kinder on the knees and the thirst.

Got m950 XTR v-levers on with Avid BB7 road callipers. Working perfectly.

Also got your old Funn bars on it. All feels just right (not that that will stop the tinkering...)

Are the hope /spooky mounts rare? Reason I ask is I have one and could get it copied maybe by a machining place locally.
