1995 Orange C16R pace R36 Original to 1996.

Retro Newbie
I bought this bike in 1995 new and still have the receipt ( see photo ). Used it lightly for 2 years with friends and upgraded to Pace RC36 forks, Cantilever brakes and new XT shifters. Was put away and pulled out once every ( umm 10 years ) for a short while. I retired last year and paid a local bike shop nearly £300 to get it sorted. They put on new shimano/mavic wheels ( included in this sale, as they thought the original brake rims were dished, but FIR's always were ) chain & cassette, cables, tyres, brake blocks and ( included ) narrow urban reinforced land cruisers tyres.

But I am much older and fatter than 21 years ago and after a few goes, when I started again last October, I realized it doesn't really fit me anymore, whereas the Trek MTB large size I then bought, does.

So here it is for sale as it was in 1996. I have put on new foam grips as I used from then on.

Bad points
There are a couple of marks on frame ( see pic ) and a little bit of rust near the chainset.
The original FIR/stx rc wheel bearings grumble and the rims are slightly rippled.
Some of the chrome ( esp seat post ) has some suface rust.
Its an old seat I put on ( comfortable ) as the original orange had turned to mankyness and was like a razorblade. Sadly I binned it.
The original cassette was 7 speed and didn't match the shifters ( as the shop pointed out when I got it sorted ). I have left the 8 speed on the spare wheel and the deraillieur setup for that - as the FIR rims are probably not going to be used every day.
I dont have the original forks/shifters/brakes as they got lost somewhere between 1996 and last year.

It still looks great and I realize they are quite sort after, so am asking £225. I think that if you want it you must come and see it first to make sure your totally happy with it. So collection only and we are just outside Milton Keynes.

Thanks for looking

Hi pal what size frame?
On bill it says 19". But just tried to check and from centre of crank to top of frame tube into which the seat goes is about 19". If it helps I am 6' and the bike is was fitted to me by the shop.
