Are all Mercians 5 digit stamped on the bottom bracket?

Are all Mercians 5 digit stamped on the bottom bracket?

To determine a original Mercian, should there be a 5 digit stamp on the bottom bracket the last 2 digits confirming the year, if the bike does not have any stamp should they be avoided? :?

Sometimes they switched it around - first two digits being the year!

No to most of your questions.

Have a look on the left rear dropout as well. It also seems that the first 2 digits give the date sometimes, this seems to be the case for '58 and '59

That however is the limit of my knowledge on Mercians. Ask Midlife or Old Ned if you want to know more.
