The second part is a bit of a technical discussion on the hour record, which Hinault eventually decided not to attempt. The bike that Eddy rode to the hour record is on permanent display on the concourse that the Eddy Merckx metro station in western Brussels.
A little strangely, the station that bears his name is nowhere near the area where he grew up, but he's the only living person who has a metro station named after him - and I think that's worldwide, not just in Belgium.
