Joe's tubeless solution on Crossmax with Schwalbe RR

I've got an older Crossmax UST wheelset. Tires are standard non-UST Schwalbe Racing Ralph 2.1.

It's supposed to work....but:
I can't get the tire to inflate on the rim, without the use of an innertube.

How the h*ll is this supposed to work? I've tried to fill it with a compressor, but still no luck. I've also tried with a standard rimstrip, also no luck.

Any help is welcome!

You'd be lucky if this will hold for a long time. The non-UST tires can have some anomalies on the inner edges where air leakage can occur.

What you can try is to have both inner edges of the tire installed in the lowest (deepest) part of the rim. Check also http://www.mavic.com/mtb/technologies/UST.1.3069.aspx for instructions.

Killer Turtle...

Save yourself the agggro... it doesn't work... I have tried it numerous times [mainly with Schwalbe and Conit] with various tyres. Even when I use the rimstips I cannot get the tyres to inflate.

The only success I had was with Bontrager TR's [Tubeless ready tyres]

Too bad

Riding with latex innertubes now. That does work. Only gripe is that these loose air over time al lot quicker than a standard inner tube.
