Interesting to read Jeff but I don't think I'd fancy one myself. Possibly better in smaller sizes where there may not be so much flex.
How does this compare to later similar designs (Trimble? Alpinestars?)
I think the basic design concept is quite old and may even appear in some late 19th century bicycling manuals. There were some time trial bikes built in the 80's(?) using this style of frame design.
