Postage sizing ,what a nightmare,help please

I am trying to get the price to post a couple of tyres and packed up they have a diameter of 70cm with a depth of 10cm.
Everytime I try and get a price it gives me some ridiculous estimate based on a box shape and a volumetric weight of 8.60kg.
Oh and they weigh approx 1.8kg

Any ideas good people of the forum?

is that Royal Mail? Sure I've sent a couple of tyres for only around £6.

you can fold wire bead tires safely

essentially twist them into an 8 and then fold the two round parts of the 8 together. that way they are much smaller.

be careful to not bend the wires and maybe check with the buyer first if he agrees.

Think i will have to go up the post office rather than using the online stuff.

Sure iv'e sent tyres fairly cheaply too, but never abroad so we shall see

I was reckoning on about 15 quid (sorry for not mentioning abroad

)

Getting barmy quotes of around 50 quid, their calculating tools only do square not circular.
