Pace steerer compatability: RC36 EVO II in a RC35 MXCD?

Hi all. Anybody know whether I can take a steerer from the later RC36 EVO II (which is longer) into the older RC35 MXCD?
Any help - much appreciated.
 
You should be able to as I believe they are all the same, circling at the bottom and use a shim for the Crown race. I've done this a few times myself.
 
Tremendous thanks - I've got to take all my components off one bike onto another anyway - so a steerer swap will have to be another job to factor in.

The amount of steerer in the crown can vary by a couple of mm but apart from that it should be fine.
