Anybody know if I can get hold of a longer steerer for my AMP F3 forks? Currently they are 200mm and I need something like 240mm. Will AMP do it themselves? Are there any 'off the shelf' ones I can do myself? Could a machinist make one up? Can my existing one be extended using shim and extra length of tube (sure I saw something about that here once on one of Jez's forks/bikes), if so can anybody recommend me someone?

cheers

Ed

Brion La Belle (a great porn name if ever I heard one) got in touch with me from AMP and they can do a 260mm for $29 which is pretty reasonable I thought. Postage will be $41  and I'll need a hydraulic press to get the old steerer out and put the new one in.

Is this something my LBS should be able to do do you think?

yes - just tried LBS ands they have to send them off to do that. Luckily live in Derby where engineering shops are all over the place because of the railway and Rolls Royce :D

Big up to AMP. Ordered longer steerer on 21st Sept, arrived today $50 in total of which $29 was steerer. Shame I wasn't in States as they could have done job for $15 - I've got to find somewhere to do it now!

Pretty good I thought, though.

AMP are brilliant for spares, i got the seal kits for my D1 calipers from them, they still keep the bush kits for my forks and frame! It's 13 years old

It's just a shame they still don't do bikes.
