Zaskar LE - 1995 (I think!)

I have had this bike from new but, as seems to often be the case, an ankle biter has led me to consider selling.

I have had a quick look on eBay but can find anything similar for sale...

I'm sure it's an American built frame and the Judy xc's were one of the first sets in the country.

I was purchased from the North West Mountian bike centre as a custom build so the spec is not standard. The group set was LX but it has grip shift x-rays and different brakes.

The question is....what's it worth!!

Perhaps a catalogue would help?

I'd love to be able to help identify it but I'm no authority of GT (or anything else for that matter , however perhaps perusing the catalogue archive for GT Bicycles would be able to help you pin down the year, and it's country of manufacture?.

If you search for GT Zaskar you'll find loads of threads - quite a few of which involve where they were made. Mine's a 96 and that was built in California so your's will have been as well I would guess.

Personally I'd say don't sell, you'll only regret it later, and start getting back out on it again. I dug mine - post children - out from under a heap of stuff in the garage last year, rebuilt it and now ride the wheels off it whenever I get chance (not as often as when I was a kid, admitedly). If you had the MTB bug when you were younger, and bought it originally, get back out there and find it again. Did my first retrobike national ride the other week as Long Mynd - was a complete hoot; really good to be back out and in the thick of it again. My two penneth is hold on to it, sell something else (leg, kidney, child) to raise funds and get back in the saddle. (If for no other reason than you know the history of your own bike, it looks in lovely condition and when you do eventually regret it and try to replace it you'll have no funds and struggle to find one as nice again. )

I'm fortunate enough to have another bike that I use regularly.

I bought this one when I was 16 used it for 12 months and then discovered things more interesting to a teenager...!!

It sat unused for about 9 years when I eventually dug it out of my parents garage and took it to the LBS for a service and tune up. I ended walking out of the shop with a 'new' Specialized Enduro and the GT was sent back to the garage once more. It has had a few trips out since then when I have been pesuading friends to join me on rides when they don't have bikes.

Frankly it would be better with someone who used it and I should stop being so sentimental about the thing!!
