XTR M950 chainset refurb ideas ?

I’ve ended up with a few sets of XTR M950 chainsets which have good rings, but have rubbed arms.

So this got me thinking about doing a refurb on a pair. I’ve seen a black pair done in Slovakia (I think) but was thinking either polished or grey again

Has anyone managed to replicate the XTR grey? It would be nice to have it anodised on and laser etched graphics.

Im about to do some levers in a mix of colours to try to get it to xtr grey in cerakote....

Can let you know how close it gets.

There is so many rubbed XTR cranks out there which could be made good again if I can crack it

It surely can’t be that hard can it? As otherwise they are decent but nobody wants them as they are rubbed.

It actually is really hard, if you really want to match the original color and finish. I haven't seen it done well yet.

CK Matte Slate isn’t far off colour-wise, not sure of their process but maybe a light bead blasting on the crank arms and then anodised would give a similar effect to the 900 series crank arms?
