It's not a Raleigh, but I've just bought this rather nice Woodrup instead:

Thank you all for your contributions.
Thats nice, the beauty of coming away from manufacturers, is breaking with the need to keep it to original spec for collectors, my Randonneur has a Sora rear mech, new Spa 3x chainset, and Deore XT on DT Swiss rims, I tried STi shifters, but went back to bar ends, but upgraded to 9 speed, it has a nice balance imo of originality and improvement.

I painted my 708 Randonneur in black hammerite🫣
It's in no way standard. XT rear mech, 105, front, 105 hubs Mavic rims, Stronglight chainset, Tange headset and bottom bracket, VO stem, Flandria bars, Spa leather saddle on an SR post, tektro cr720 cantilever brakes and levers. Tubus racks. It's a work horse and it's better than I will ever be😁
Sorry to op for derail🤦‍♂️

That Hobbs is rather lovely, is it a Blue riband?
Thank you. No, I don't think it's a Blue Riband. I found it abandoned in a friend's garden when I was at Uni. It had had a hard life, but I wanted to restore it. It took the best part of 20 years to get around to it, but after some frame repairs and a repaint at Bob Jackson's, I built it up to what you see above. I fitted it with a Sturmey Archer 4 speed hub and built some nice wheels for it. I never got on with riding it though - I didn't like the sturmey ratios and it rode like my other steel bikes, so I decided to move it on.
