A bit late to this thread but thought you might like to see this leaflet I have (it’s 41 years old now). I travelled down from Stafford to Bristol in 1985 to buy my Crossfell from the shop aged 19. I can remember taking it for its first test ride over the Clifton Suspension bridge too. Back then it got loads of admiring looks as the only other options were Ridgeback or Muddy Fox.

I no longer have the Cross Fell as I replaced it with a British Eagle Pro Carbon in 1992 - which I do still have. Both bikes being great

Also, as mentioned in an earlier post, mine had the Nitto bars and stem too.
