Suntour xc pro cassette help. 8speed to 7 speed.

So I've got some hubs which are 8 speed and shifter 7 speed.

I dont really want to have to buy another hub so can I take out a cog a use a spacer or can I run the 8 speed and just use the first 7 cogs?

Use the smallest cogs iirc, it switched from 4.8 to 5.0 mm spacing at some point iirc.
You could space it if you want, but then that a big area for a chain to fall in. S
Or get some 8speed shifter (or modify the index plate?)
I can't remember the innards of the shifter at the moment.
MicroDrive shifter where 7/8 speed.

You can swap the freehub over and then use a 7sp cassette with your shifters. Later shifters could be adjusted between 7 and 8 via a twisting the top cover, they would usually have markings to show this if not worn away.

I have a new xc pro hub body and freehub, if your hub is xc pro, you could swap over the freehub.

It is xc pro. Its just 8 speed not 7.
