if vehicle/ object is doing less than 10mph - overtaking is allowed on double lines.

Cool, that means I'm not in the wrong when I pass stationary traffic on the wrong side of the solid lines (on my bike obviously) , which of course I already knew otherwise I wouldn't do it !!!

In this case though I suspect he was doing more like 15-20mph?????????

Appalling driving there, but the more you drive/ride, the more you see of it. I do about 1500 miles a week, repping around the south west, and i've seen some things that'd make you hang up your keys and your helmet forever.

If you don't go to the police, at least have a word with the logistics manager at the depot address.

I'm sure he'd love to know that his drivers are driving like that. These days it's all about public relations. Who's to say that the cyclist he nearly killed isn't the MD of thier biggest customer....

If you read the stuff found on this company its the owners van that went past him not some pleb that works for him so wouldnt get much joy would be worth finding out if he is associated with any haulage bodies and passing them a copy of the footage, i would also post it in responce to some of his own videos he has up showing his firm he seems to like using cab cameras looking at his own footage on you tube

Why are you guys conviced that X3 DNF is the plate of the offending truck? He has more than one ending in DNF, that X3 DNF truck looks far bigger than the one that overtook him. just be sure before

I think I remember selling the owner (one of the Gorrett brothers) a bike when I worked in the Bike Shed in Crediton. He came in and asked for the most expensive bike for his son aged about 7. This was a full suspension Saracen probably weighing 33lbs.

He's not the sort of bloke you would want to get on the wrong side of; big bloke and i've heard readily resorts to his fists if necessary.

Shan't stop me having a word with the police though.

You'd think that in the modern era there would be a site for this type of thing - www.squealtotherozzers.com or www.bookemdan-o.com but I can't seem to find such a thing.

I'll give them a ring on Monday and see where that gets me.

Overtaking on double white lines is legal if you need to pass a cyclist or other vehicle doing ten mph or less - IF it is safe to do so - and you must give that vehicle a safe clearance.

What that guy in the artic did was to overtake when it was clearly NOT safe to do so, because of the oncoming vehicle. He was either going to meet the car head on or else get further back in to the left, risking the life of you, the cyclist, which is what he did. That was dangerous driving, in my view.

I bet the truck driver realized how close he cut it at the time (probably crapping himself) and i guess he will remember what he did, unless he was asleep at the time!
