Shimano 1055 DT shifter question. Sounds dumb, probably is

After changing my wheelset to one with a 7 speed cassette, I had to buy some 7 speed DT shifters.

Anyway, my LH 1050 shifter lines up parallel with the downtube when the chain is on the small chainring. (which matches the angle of the RH shifter when it's on the smallest cog on the cassette)

The LH 1055 shifter points up towards the headtube when the chain is on the small chainring. (an angle of around 25 degrees from parallel)

I've had the black dust cover off the back of the shifter and everything lines up as it should. The levers have never been used so I'm guessing they're meant to be like that. I just don't like the look of it.

The only other thing I can think of is that the LH 1055 boss cover has a different offset.

I am confused and annoyed...

It's designed like that. You can shift the front with your right hand.

There was a thread on here last week with a similar question, you can get a zero offset adaptor to replace the 15 degree offset adaptor.

Thanks for the replies, guys. The right hand shifting theory makes sense.

I must look this thread up, The angle of the LH shifter makes no difference when the bike is being used as the shifters are at all sorts of different angles anyway. It's the first time I've come across this shifter setting so I was a bit perplexed.
