Bas, I would suggest what you already said: Stripping paint and polish it. Personally I would not opt for the clear. Than fingers crossed that it will last for a while as museum piece (plausible) ...or even as rider I think it would make a cool cheap cruiser for riding around town.

Would think those decals can be duplicated quite easily.

I was oggling it on your blog. I think it's worth a fresh coat of powder in a nice Drylac RAL 6018.

I had an Alien back in the day, mine was a purple metalic color. I stripped it and rubbed it up to a nice shine and I never liked it as much as when it was purple.
