First impressions were quite good, although I'm yet to actually ride them. Got some more messing to do but can see this working out...

Update time- went over to the old mans today, he machined up some more elastomer from the rod I bought. Not nice to work on but they have come out well. Fitted along with springs (cut to size) and a spacer, so half elastomer, half spring.

First impressions of the end result seem very nice indeed- not mounted to anything as yet but getting decent/smooth travel.

Had another poke- fitted some m10 shoulder washers to hold the type 3 springs in place, fitted the newly machined elastomers into the second pair in place of the old ones. Think I'm onto a winner here- don't think I'll need to do much more...
