I'm not sure this is NOS. American, to the best of my knowledge, didn't paint their frames. Tastes do differ, but a polished or brushed American was far prettier in my, and most other people's, eyes, so who would take a gorgeous finish that showed off the welds and cover it up in a kind of ugly paint. Not saying the seller is dishonest, just that I would check it out more carefully.
