Normandy Luxe Competition Hubs Cone replacement

Hi,

I have badly pitted cones on my 30yr old normandy luxe competition hubs and need some new ones.

A friend of mine suggested that I ask here because you guys/gals have probably been through this before.

I've tried an off the shelf spindle from my local bike shop but the cones are too small a diameter and the balls do not sit on the right part of the cone.

Has any one found a modern substitute? or could I simply put in 1/4" balls?

I'm tring to avoid replacing the hub because they look nice and I guess I'm so used to them.

Hi All,

I've found a solution to the problem. I had my father skim the cone bearing surface on a lathe and the polish them. This has basically returned the cone to original condition.
