Nickel plated frames

Hi folks, I have a Scapin road frame in Columbus Genius. Lovely ride but the paint has seen better days. The frame was nickel plated under the paint at the factory. Does anyone have experience of repainting this type of frame? I won't be doing it myself but what do I need to bear in mind? Any significant issues?
Cheers, Kerry.

It would be good to see some pics :)

Its not a problem to respray a flat colour if an etch primer is used first.

It may be a cromovelato finish popular on a lot of Italian frames. A transparent paint is used over the chrome frame, reproducing that effect is a little more complicated.

Re:

She is fully built up at present.
I have a Shimano 6500/7700 mix to go on it.
So does it need dipping or media blasting in prep?

Re:

Would recommend dipping if it's going to be nickel plated. Media blasting can pit and would need polishing before playing. Also a frame can have rustproofing and media blasting can remove that.
