Marin AXC B17, RS Tora questions

Hi, new here... sort of, was a member some years ago (Naboo) but those log in details are long gone .

I decided to get a cheap mtb a while back just to ride with the kids now they are at that age, but old habits kicked in and lock down hasn’t helped, now I’m here with £100 worth of bike that’s had about 20 hours of paint removal and polishing put into it .

I got a 2007 Marin B17 and have thrown a few bits at it to tidy it up, it does me for what I need. I’m at a sticking point, I’m happy with it so far but feel the fork let’s it down a bit. I got a fox F series last week but unfortunately the steerer was way too short and I sold it on.

The fork is good enough for me, my main issue with it is the lack of a lock out (it’s a 302) and other than this it works fine.
I have a lack of knowledge on forks, is there any way of swapping out the damper for a lock out damper from another fork? If so what forks would the parts be interchangeable from? I’m trying to do this as cheaply as possible, so obviously no point doing this if parts are going to cost £100 plus, but just weighing up my options.
Any help appreciated, thanks

Thought I had better add some pics of the bike

Re:

Cheers, yep, I did it some years ago with a couple of old Konas, forgot how much hassle it was
Before lockdown I had a couple of weeks off for a hernia operation, decided to buy a cheap bike to ride with the kids. It sat in my house, with the horrible scratched paint staring at me, boredom and old habits kicked in and decided to polish it up
