Looking for bottle clamps to use on a Claud Butler 1980s 531 frame

Retro Newbie
I have an Claud Butler Sierra Road Bike from the early to mid 80s (haven't checked the frame number yet). It hasn't got fixings for drinks bottles and I was told by my local bike mechanic that it isn't save to put screw fixings in. I've tried cable ties:( and they don't work. Does anyone know if you can get tube clamps made for this purpose, and where to find them?
Thanks very much (bike pic below)

By the way, this bike is probably the most comfortable I have ever ridden. 40-odd years old and it is taking me on a London to Paris charity ride next year. :)

Try Zefal components. They used to make a bracket for frames without bottle bosses .

Still made .
Amazon list them .ZEFAL Gizmo universal bottle mounts

No problem fitting bosses - if you know how to use a drill, and use rivnuts, it can be done at home.

The ageing and corrosion of this frame will affect the joins and stress points - the middle section of the downtube will be fine.

I could braze some in for you but it would cost loads more and damage the paint - as well as affecting the material more.
Rivnuts are common on ti and aluminium frames, and if they work loose over the years, can be replaced easily enough.

me fave clamps for bottle cage mounting are the ones produced by Allara/AL-E because they are hinged and so require no bending
