Description
Extremely rare, the Lapierre Nevache from the 1980s is one of the first mountain bike prototypes in France.
Made with original French parts, it is in museum-quality, like-new condition.
This is a collector's mountain bike in exceptional condition and a true cycling antique. More than just a bike, it's a time capsule and a pillar of French mountain biking.
You are looking at one of the very first 26-inch mountain bike models ever produced by Lapierre, the legendary French brand.
This is a collector's and vintage bike of major historical importance.
This historic bike is a museum piece.
Before its first production mountain bike, the Lapierre Meije, Lapierre created several prototypes to analyze market demand.
Only 100 prototypes were produced, and this bike is number 88.
All the parts are original, just as they were back then—a true collector's item. Its condition is museum-quality. “The designers and engineers drew inspiration from early American mountain bike models: Breezer, Specialized, Ritchey, Gary Fisher, Fat Chance, and Klein.
But they wanted to create the true French mountain bike, the more elegant adventure bike.
They also kept in mind that the first French mountain bike should use original French components.
Even the names of these bikes, Nevache and then Meije, were associated with the French culture of mountain tourism. Team Fat Chance bikes.
The Lapierre Nevache was the first mountain bike prototype, the first mountain bike in French history, historically predating the Peugeot VTT1 (PHE10), the Orient Express, and the MBK Tracker.
This Nevache mountain bike represents a piece of French mountain biking history and a historic innovation in cycling.” – this story was told to me by someone who worked at Lapierre at that time.
It’s ready to ride.
