Is it possible to alter a rear Campagnolo Hub? Advice please.

Hmmm, I thought they were 130 spaced because I have one that's spaced as that. It came on my 87-91 Faggin SLX King. I wonder if they made two versions 126 & 130 as 8 speed was coming out??? They did make 8 speed freewheels at one point. While velo base is generally a good starting point, I know for a fact that it is far from complete.

So job successfully completed, and I didn't need to reduce the axle length after removing/fitting slimmer spacers. Thanks for the advice given, I now have a very good set of 36 spoke Campagnolo C Record hubs on Ambrosio clincher rims (and hard to come by vs tubular) with an OLN of 126mm to run on my 6/7 speed setups.
