I’ve finally accepted my fate……….. is this sacrilegious?

Hopefully will just be assistance on the up stuff. I’ve been only managing short rides due to terrain and tablets. This could be a solution.
Do it.
I've had CFS for ages but resisted any electrickery because it seemed like throwing the towel in and conceding defeat. Wish I'd gone for it. I'd have enjoyed years of pleasurable frequent rides instead of beating myself up every 3 - 4 weeks.

Most important thing is being out there, I won't hesitate to use one if that's the difference between getting out for a ride and not.... I also think that the larger frame on your Dawes and its geometry will work well with it...
DAWES? That sir, is a hand built fillet brazed Alves. Only the best for this project. Charlie would be turning on his oil rig.

Agree that getting out and about is the important thing and i wont hesitate for a second to adopt electronic shifting, if arthritis in my fingers gets bad, and then an e-bike when my legs call time. We are lucky to have the the options to extend our cycling years and it will only get better as time rolls on. Lighter bikes, better battery/charging tech, improved cycling infrastructure (in some parts of the world!) to reduce the number of cars etc
