are bike bits a lot cheaper in Hong Kong? I know electronic stuff is, was wondering if bike stuff was as my sister will be getting my b.day present there and I was thinking of getting her to bring some bike goodies back instead of electonics

Knowing the Chinese like i do (soon to be ex is one) I wouldn't trust them to be the genuine parts but a copy.

hey kona kid
my GF and i have been in HK quite a lot over the past few years but to be honest ive never noticed a 'proper' bike shop!
there was a bmx shop i found once, and im sure there must be some somewhere - we tend to lurk around mong kok so its probably not the right area really!
knowing HK theres probably 'bike shop alley' somewhere with a 50 shops all next to each other selling crazy stuff. :D
if you did find one it probably would be a bit cheaper, but whether you'd have a decent range of stuff or not is another matter :?

Back in 2002 there were some great shops in Central. Hard to find though unless u knew where. Picked up a lot of XTR kit for not a lot of cash.

a uni friend of mine lived in hong kong until 92 & reckoned it was miles cheaper with a lot of decent bike shops... obviously thats some time ago now..

cheers all, do fancy some modern ritchey shiney things, but am worried about cheap copies and there's no way my sister would know the difference.. maybe i should play it safe and get copies of MS office and films like everyone else
